Starting at the Nevada/California line on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, I will hike west following the American Discovery Trail over the Sierra crest on day 2, then down out of the Sierra Nevada into the Central Valley, Sacramento Delta, the San Francisco Bay area, over the Golden Gate Bridge, and finish at the Pacific Coast at Point Reyes. Probably a little under 400 miles total, spending nights either camping, at motels, or visiting a few friends and relatives. Exact starting date depends on the Sierra snowpack melting enough for hiking over the crest at Squaw Valley.
I've hiked and climbed in CA for over 20 years and am looking for capable companions, particularly for traversing the Sierra Nevada. I'm in good shape for my 72 years, but not a fast hiker. But I'm an expert at navigation; computerized mapping was my profession.
