Planning a 9-day road trip through Uttarakhand this Pujo, starting around 18th October. Route: Kathgodam → Pithoragarh → Dharchula → Dantu village in Darma Valley, with one moderate day-hike to Panchachuli Base Camp / Zero Point for glacier views.
This is mostly a scenic road trip and cultural stay, not a technical trek — just one hiking day (~10-12 km), the rest is travel and homestays in a part of Uttarakhand most people never see. Dantu is a remote Rung tribal village, solar-lit homestays, wood-heated water, and unobstructed views of all five Panchachuli peaks. Needs an Inner Line Permit since it's right along the Kali river border, already in progress on our end.
Rough plan: Day 1-2 travel to Kathgodam and drive to Pithoragarh, Day 3 permit processing in Dharchula, Day 4 drive into Dantu, Day 5-6 village culture and the hike to base camp, Day 7-9 return.
Two of us are organizing this, keeping the group small at 5-6 people total. No trekking experience needed, just comfort with mountain roads, basic homestays, and one moderate hiking day.
