Howdy, I'm 19 years old and I'm setting out to travel on foot across the United States, and working on WWOOF farms and in ecovillages and camping in the wilderness starting this Spring-if all goes to plan (I'm a writer so I can make an income while traveling). I know it sounds crazy, but I'm aiming to start in the Western Maryland Highlands, go down through West Virginia, down part of the Appalachian trail and using backroads. I eventually want to make it to someplace in the coastal Southeast by Winter. Is anybody interested in forming a travelling fellowship? If you've got a car, want to use it, and are willing to take passengers (I'll help pay for the gas), I'd consider that, too (but I sure do love walking!). I used to have a car, but gave it to my little brother. I'm wanting to learn all about homesteading, bushcraft, primitive technology, wilderness survival, and even spirituality (I'm interested an indigenous cultures especially). I am a scientific researcher and I have some innovative discoveries which could really help people's health tremendously, so my main goal is to just help people out and learn all I can on the way. I'm also interested in going down to the Amazon rainforest sometime to WWOOF there (Workaway actually) and train under some real interesting native healers. I've got some big plans and I'd love to share them with like-minded folks!
