I will travel along the west coast to wellington. So far I have Raglan (from 30th January to 2th February)and New Plymouth planned as stopovers. I'll stay a few days in Wellington and then I have until the end of March on the South Island (last stop is Christchurch). If anyone has similar plans feel free to contact me, I'm travelling by intercity and hitchhiking but would be happy to share fuel costs if someone would give me a lift by car.
