I'm planning to leave Seattle the 14th and take the coast to Big Sur stopping along the way. I will probably spend a few days in San Francisco. I like to take in the Arts and hike wherever I am. I was thinking of flying into San Francisco and renting a car to drive back, but I don't think that's the move. 

Does anyone have any recommendations for lodging, must do's, or events coming up along the way?
