The cheapest routes you can fly to get to Australia from India is either Hyderabad to Perth or Chennai to Perth depending on the date and flight. Generally, if all things are the same, meaning there are no flash sales or discounts, flying to Perth from India would be the cheapest destination regardless of which Canadian airport you fly out of.

We already mentioned Hyderabad and Chennai as being the cheapest departure cities for flying to Australia. Flying out of Bengaluru, or Kolkata will cost you about ₹1000-3000 ($14-$42 USD) more. If you’re flying out of Mumbai or Delhi you will generally pay ₹3000-8000 ($42- $113) more than in Hyderabad or Chennai.

Cheapest Arrival cities in Australia

While some of you may not be able to control which city you fly out of, you do have control over what city you choose to fly to. Similar to the departure cities, arrival cities are a factor in determining your ticket prices as well. Perth is the cheapest arrival city for people looking to fly to Australia from India. If you’re looking to do your trip on the east coast, Sydney and Melbourne are the cheapest destinations. 

Below are the prices for flights departing from Chennai and arriving in the cities mentioned above. Consistent to the first example, all of these flights are round trips from Chennai departing on March 3rd and returning on March 18th.

When you should book to find the cheapest flights to Australia from India

While it’s possible to find deals if you wait, if you have certain dates and flights in mind, you should book as soon as possible. Prices generally go up closer to the departure dates, so waiting for the right deal can often backfire. The best months for you to book your flight out of India are between March and September. Prices are generally the cheapest during this period, and are the most expensive from November through February. 

You’ll find the best deals flying out in the middle of the week as opposed to weekends. Flying on a Tuesday or Wednesday will generally provide you with the best prices.
