If you are from India and are looking to travel to Australia for tourism purposes you need to apply for a tourist stream visa (subclass 600). There are a few things to know about before applying for this visa, we will be covering everything you need to be approved under Australia’s tourist stream visa for Indian citizens.

How do I apply for the Australia Tourist Stream visa from India?

You can apply for the Tourist Stream visa on Australia’s department of home affairs immigration page.

What are the Conditions for Staying in Australia?

If you're from India and you are approved for Australia's tourist stream visa (subclass 600), you can travel, study and/or train for up to 3 months in total. However, if you’re mainly travelling to Australia to study, a student visa may be more appropriate. Additionally, while you are staying in Australia with this visa you cannot be employed. This visa is for Indian citizens who genuinely plan to visit Australia for a temporary period.

This visa type costs $145 AUD. The duration of your stay can be either 3, 6, or 12 months. You can stay for the period or dates specified on the visa grant letter. The department of home affairs determines the length of your visa on a case by case basis. Generally, 3 months is the duration of stay that most visas are approved with.
