I'm Nicky, and I'm planning my first solo trip. My dates may be *slightly* flexible if I can find someone to share a guesthouse or accommodation with. Since I'm a particularly light sleeper, I do prefer to have separate rooms. But it would still help cut costs to have someone to split a vrbo/guesthouse/etc with.
Typically, I like to rent a car/road trip and plan everything out myself for travel. But due to the weather in Iceland in the winter, I'm opting to book several group tours with Arctic Adventures and Wake Up Reykjavik instead of risking driving in unpredictable weather. Some of the itinerary includes:
- Snowmobiling on the Langjökull Glacier
- Horseback riding at Laxnes farm
- Snorkeling in the Silfra fissure
- Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir) and the Golden Circle
- Several waterfalls
- Three geothermal pools (including Blue Lagoon)
- Diamond beach and Jökulsarlón Glacier Lagoon
- Several chances to see the northern lights
- A couple days to spend around the city of Reykjavik (including NYE)
Because I'm booking tours and because Iceland is a pricey destination in general, this is one of the most expensive trips I've planned. No pressure to join any of the adventure trips if you're just looking for someone to share hotel costs but want to do your own thing! Based on the research I've done so far, I'm looking at around 4k USD (without flights) for tours, museum entries, geothermal pools, and estimated food and transportation costs.
One of the tours is a 3 day trip with two nights included while traveling the southern coast. All other nights I play to look at places to stay in the center of Reykjavik so everything is walkable.
Any travel companions must be queer friendly.
