Hello,
I’ll be in Iceland in early September (Aug 30 – Sept 14). I’ve visited three times before but never in summer, so I’m aiming for summer-specific activities—namely hiking and exploring the Highlands.
I am a 33-year-old male, fluent in German, English, and French, and experienced in hiking and some trekking (my most recent trek was on May 26). I’m flying from the EuroAirport (Aug 29 – Sept 15).
I’m looking for fellow hiking enthusiasts to share some hikes and/or logistical costs (for the whole trip or only part of it).
Or eventually join another group
My program isn't set in stone yet, but it would likely center around:
- ~7 days on the Laugavegur trail to Skógafoss (this can be done without a car, as buses are available)
And to complete then:
- Treks (loops) or day hikes in the Highlands—specifically around Askja, Laugarvellir, and/or Hveradalir (a car seems necessary for this)
- "Plan B": visiting the Westfjords and the many hot springs (requires a car)
- Other ideas: driving Route 1 again, visiting breweries...?
Looking forward to meeting other travelers with similar interests.
