Hello, I live in the San Francisco area, California, and work remotely.
-> To be clear - this is NOT a dating site: I'm looking for just (one or more) travel companion(s).
Planning a trip to Europe of about 1 to 3 month this summer (flexible).
I'm originally from Italy, and speak several European languages.
My travel style is slow : enjoy the JOURNEY - not a mad rush "from A to B", or trying "to collect cities". Relaxed, NOT particularly into luxury (a neighborhood restaurant often beats pricey, pretentious tourist traps!). I love architecture, scenic places, history, beaches, cafes, sampling local cuisine, etc, etc.
Nothing is written in stone, and I'm flexible about many things, but the following is my current idea - to share all OR JUST PARTS of it!
PHASE 1 : sleeper-car train from San Francisco to New York City. Great way to see the US! Possibly, pause at some city or cities along the way.
PHASE 2: from NYC to England by Ocean Liner. Elegant trans-atlantic liner, Queen Elizabeth II. Old-style elegance! It takes 5 days, and costs roughly like a plane ticket
PHASE 3: travel, mostly by train, around Europe. Visit cities and sites. I have ideas, but VERY open to suggestions. Other than about 2 weeks to see family/friends in Italy (conveniently in a very scenic city!), no strong requirements: there are bazillion beautiful things to do everywhere in Europe. Visit cities, beaches, dining, etc, etc. Suggest away if you have strong feelings!
PHASE 4 and 5: return by ship to the US (NYC), and then re-cross by train to San Francisco
Again, join me in all of it, OR only selected parts...
Looking for warm, personable people... also a reliable travel companion to "have each other's back" should anything happen.
I work remotely in the biomedical industry, and will get some work done along the way - but, don't worry: it's a very independent job, generally relaxed, and mercifully with very few meetings! It feels like independent research. I want to put my remote job "to good use", to get some travel, but let me be clear that I'm NOT a full digital nomad: I'm solidly based in the San Francisco area.
You could meet me in San Francisco, or across the US, or in NYC, or in Europe, for all or part of the journey.
I look forward to hearing from you :)
(Please don't spam me; I'm NOT interested in any "services")
