I’ve quit work and at the end of May will be free for months, and am looking for a travel mate for some touring around Australia (departing from Melbourne).
I’ve been four-wheel-driving and camping for years. I don’t do campgrounds; I'm only really interested in getting out into the forests, mountains, beaches… to be properly in nature and away from noisy neighbours, etc.
I have a fully equipped 70 series with fridges, solar, an inverter for charging laptops, phones, camp lights, cooking, recovery gear… Everything needed for extended remote travel.
You’d just need your sleeping gear, and we’d split food/fuel costs.
I’ve done trips to Cape Tribulation, central NSW, Flinders Ranges... I know how to get to places and back in one piece. A couple of previous trip photos are attached.
I’m flexible on destinations. The Vic high country, through NSW to north QLD, the NT, the WA coast, and the Kimberleys are all doable. It’d be particularly great to find someone to do the Kimberleys with.
Weekend camping buddies would be fine too, but ultimately I’m really looking to do trips over several weeks at least, or months, to really explore Aus.
One important thing: I have a big, friendly Rottweiler (in my profile pic) who will always be with us, and off-lead at camp. If you’re scared of or uncomfortable with dogs, we’re just not the travel partners for you.
If this sounds like your kind of travel, though, and we (me and the dog) are your kind of people, shoot me a message (not chatting in the post here). We can get together for a few drinks and chats, see if we get along, and talk about some plans.
