I am a self-made cinematographer and photographer as I have never attended a film school. In fact, I gave formal education a miss after my school finals and chose LIFE as my educator. So I took myself away from the confines of the classroom and with my “old film camera”, set out travelling around the country. The open horizon taught me light and exposure, the people I met taught me framing. And through a lot of real-life experiences, I learnt the art of photography and the basics of cinematography. After three years of on-the-road trail and error, I landed my first job with the Films Division of India.
