I plan to spend a week in Vang Vieng, camping along the Nam Song River and exploring the surrounding karst forests. During the days I’ll kayak on the river, hike to caves, and trek through limestone hills and paddies. At night I’ll go herping along streams, rice fields, and forest edges, searching for geckos, frogs, and snakes under the glow of headlamps. Some nights will be spent in riverside camps, others in simple guesthouses or bungalows near the Blue Lagoons. The goal is to balance adventure travel with nocturnal fieldwork, soaking up both the landscapes and the wildlife of central Laos.
