My travel dates for Crete (and possibly other Greek islands) are still flexible as of today (May 26).  I’m doing a 14 week trip through Greece, Albania, Montenegro and maybe some other Balkan nations from June 9 to September 15.  I’ll be traveling with a mix of old friends and people I’ve connected with through GAFFL and similar sites for parts of this journey, but I don’t yet have anyone to share the trip for the two weeks (give or take) that I plan to be touring Crete (and maybe another island or two) from July 7 to July…whenever.  

I’ve booked a flight from Chios to Heraklion July 7.  I haven’t yet booked the flight out from Crete but my current (still flexible) plan is to depart about two weeks later from either Chania or Heraklion to Tirana. I’m open to suggestions and willing to work with someone else’s “must see” priorities.  But a few things on my (extensive) wish list for Crete include hiking Samaria Gorge and Preveli Gorge, city days & nights in Heraklion and Chania, Kissamos, Balos Beach,  Elafonissi, Palaichora, and… so many more alluring destinations.

I will consider spending less time on Crete and visiting other Greek islands, but I want to catch a flight to Albania before the end of July regardless.  

If you’re planning to visit Albania or Montenegro from late July to early September, I’ll be doing a 6-7 week road trip through those nations (with possible detours  through North Macedonia, Bosnia and/or Serbia) after Crete.
