Trip Details

The “meetup point” is arbitrary.  But I certainly will be at that bar when I’m in Luang Prabang.

This will be my third trip to Laos and Vietnam in the past 15 months.  This absolutely does not make me anything like an expert guide, but I’ve made a few friends, locals and expats, including a couple of cocktail bar owners  in Luang Prabang and Hanoi.  :-)  I haven’t been to Thailand since ... a long time ago.  You can see some highlights from my previous trips here if you scroll down through the history:  https://www.facebook.com/steve.brodsky.14

I don’t really need anyone to share costs, but if your plans overlap with mine it’s always nice to have some company on day trips or for dinners and drinks.  If you’re on a tight budget I will have space for one or possibly two other people in some (but not all) of the places I’m staying.

Most of my itinerary is set except the last few weeks in Laos & Vietnam:

1) Ao Nang Feb 17-24

2) Chiang Mai Feb 24 - March 1

3) Luang Prabang March 1 - 15 (or I might stay a few more days)

4) Leaving Luang Prabang going to Hanoi between March 15-20.  I’ll stay a few days in Hanoi then catch a bus to Ha Giang, rent a scooter and drive the loop.   Might go to Sapa from there before heading back to Hanoi for my last week of this trip April 1-8.

I’ve got most of my lodging booked.  It’s a crapshoot rooming with someone you’ve never met, but if you need a cheap bed and kitchen I’m willing to roll the dice (hey, my trip starts next week in Vegas before I cross the Pacific to spend a few weeks in New Zealand with an old friend before I get to Thailand).

For my two weeks (or more) in Luang Prabang I have two bedrooms.  One of the beds is HUGE if you’re a traveling couple. I stayed in this place last summer so I know this bed could accommodate a small family. In Chiang Mai it’s a studio with a bed and a sleeper sofa, but it’s  all in one room.  In Ao Nang I’ve got no space for a roomie unless you want to sleep on the floor.   I haven’t booked anything in Vietnam yet except my last week April 1-8.
