Eastbourne was named - by Time Out Magazine - as the best place in the UK to go on a day or overnight trip in 2023. We have a vibrant, creative, and cultural community that includes the Towner Gallery (which hosted the Turner Prize in 2023), Little Chelsea (filled with independent shops, cafes, and venues), and a selection of theatres. Our seafront is filled with Victorian architecture and includes a pier, bandstand, Napoleonic-era fort, a couple of 19th-century defensive towers, and a harbour. Nearby, the chalky cliffs of Beachy Head welcome you to the beautiful South Downs National Park, and in the other direction, it's just a short trip away to the magnificent ruins of Pevensey Castle, with a rich history dating back through the Norman conquest to its Roman origins.
