Are you in Chicago area and have that weekend free for a nature escape? Come see the beauty of fall in the Driftless Region with me! The days might be getting shorter but so is the wait until we are able to see one of mother nature's most spectacular shows.
I have planned a 3-day (weekend + Monday, ideally) itinerary for a road trip starting from the Chicago area and the places to explore are generally in the Wisconsin-Iowa border, mighty Mississippi river included. This is more of a nature sightseeing drive so there will be quite a lot of driving (and yes, with this trip, it's not just the destination that matters, it's the journey!). I plan to hike some state parks, see the beauty of backroads and quaint towns, dine in local restaurants, savor local Wisconsin beers, maybe visit an apple orchard for souvenirs, and I saw this Matilda musical happening in one historic theater in Iowa (which makes the ideal dates quite fixed). So aside from driving, there will be a show to watch and some physical activity to burn those calories from the delicious meals! Connect with me to get more details.
I'm open to suggestions as well, like which nature park to hike and which museum to see, or what else can we add to the 3rd day. As our nights our longer, we'll probably have more time in our accommodation as well. Bring a board game and let's play, if you are into those!
I'm open to all-gender travelers but let's say males and females are joining, best to let the same sex sleep together!
I've done a similar leaf-peeping trip last October to the same region and I was deeply awestruck at how parts of the Driftless Area looked during the peak of the colors, so much that I am doing the same thing again this year - I just can't let that fleeting nature show pass me by. But I'll be exploring different towns/state parks and passing through different routes.
Edit: can accomodate only 2 more people, 1 is joining me already ππ
